Using the correct hand sanitiser

With the current run on hand sanitisers, and the fear over transmission of the corona virus, it is important to know you can get a product and get a product that works.

There are 2 questions you need to ask. Is the antimicrobial agent designed to kill corona virus is it strong enough to do so? You will often read labels saying things like “kills 99.9% of germs”. There are many different types of ‘germs’ including moulds, bacteria and viruses and all have different susceptibility to different germicidal agents. An anti-bacterial agent may not be any good for viruses such as corona virus.

To effectively remove corona virus, the CDC is recommending hand sanitiser containing at lease 60% ethanol. The World Health Organisation recommends an 80% ethanol hand sanitiser to eradicate a wider range of organisms.

At Border Compounding Pharmacy we have formulated an 80% ethanol moisturising hand sanitiser which will be effective against a wide range of viruses including corona virus as well as bacteria.

To ensure the skin doesn’t dry out, our compounding pharmacists have formulated our hand sanitiser using high levels of natural moisturising and emollient agents.

BCP Moisturising Hand Sanitiser is medical strength and pharmacist formulated.
